The family helps out with Hilda's beauty salon. Betty tells Sammy about her promotion and how hard it is because of her previous relationship with Matt. Sammy announces he is doing a remodel of a house of a fashion designer named Evan who is going to be the new director of Gucci. Betty asks him to get her an interview with him.

Betty arrives at work and Marc tells Amanda how mad he is that Betty got his job. Amanda remembers it is Marc's birthday, but he tells her to keep it a secret. Betty goes to the meeting and finds the only chair left for her is a bean bag, which she fall off of when she jumps on it. Matt announces that there will be an opening in the upcoming issue. Betty texts Sammy and Matt asks her to pay attention. Betty tells Matt she might have a pitch, but he says he needs a more concrete idea. He tells her that the UN fiasco made them both look bad. Marc and Amanda watch Betty. Amanda thinks Betty and Matt are hopelessly in love and Marc wants her job. Marc and Amanda wonder if they are obsessed with Betty and Wilhelmina tells them they are.

Betty meets with Daniel and asks why he isn't at the support group meeting. Daniel tells her he is on his way.

Marc tells Betty Hilda is on the phone for her and listens in to her conversation. Hilda tells Betty that Sammy is going to come through for her. Marc is shocked by the news that Betty is getting a scoop.

Ignacio tells Hilda he needs to find a busboy for the restaurant. Hilda asks if she can have the job. Ignacio is reluctant at first, but agrees to let her have the job.

Wilhelmina gets a call from her private investigator and learns Connor is in the Bahamas. Wilhelmina packs for her trip to confront Connor. Marc asks if she will be able to put her feelings aside and Wilhelmina assures him she will be fine.

Marc tells Amanda he is going to stop Betty from getting her story. He then turns around and is surprised by Betty with a birthday cake. Betty tells him to make a wish. He envisions her in flames, then blows out the candles.

Betty checks up on Daniel and he assures her he is at his support group meeting. As the meeting starts, Daniel tries to walk out, but is stopped by Natalie, the woman Daniel put on the phone to prove to Betty he was there.

Betty meets with Sammy and finds out Evan doesn't know he is going to be meeting her. He walks in and is upset that he was called there to pick a color for the tiles. Betty then introduces herself and asks if she can do a story about his departure from Dolce and Gabbana. He tells Sammy that his job is in jeopardy for leaking the news. Betty says his secret is safe with her and asks him to call her. She then offers a color suggestion for his tiles and he agrees to meet with her later.
