Betty returns to Mode and finds that it has turned into a cold, colorless environment. Amanda and Marc are thrilled to see her because she reminds them of the old Mode, when things were bright and warm. Betty goes to Daniel's office and finds that it is now a nursery. Wilhelmina tells her Daniel is gone and she is the new head of Mode.

Betty finds Daniel at his new gig, Player Magazine, where everyone is ultra hip and immature. Daniel's son, DJ, is roaming around playing pranks and we meet Ginger, the receptionist who is not so smart. It's another place where Betty doesn't fit in and everyone boos her, literally.

Back at Mode, Wilhelmina asks Alexis for a budget increase and gets denied because the money is needed for Claire's project, Hot Flash. Marc walks Wilhelmina into the elevator where she lets out a scream then hatches a plan.

Betty goes apartment hunting with Christina, who is still pregnant with Wihelmina and Bradford's child. They find a spacious, bright yellow pad and when a dove lands on the window sill, Betty decides she has to have it, but someone else beats her to it. The realtor tells Betty there's another place in the same building and without even seeing it, Betty says she'll take it. The place turns out to be a dump with a naked old couple living in the apartment across from the window. Hilda tries to call their dad to help, but Betty insists that she wants to solve the problem herself.
