Kuol visit with Victor who explains he has ALS which is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Kuol cheers Mike up by talking to him about baseball. Kuol explains he is working there until he can receive a new heart. Kuol runs for help after Victor's monitor starts to beep. Later, Andy and Sophia meet with Victor and his daughter Laurie. He tells them he has to operate and repair Victor's heart. Laurie is worried that Victor is going to get hurt due to his ALS. Victor says since he has a choice of fighting it or dying, he decides to have surgery. After further analysis, Andy informs Victor there is also a diaphragm tear in his lungs and will need to be on the ventilator in order to stay alive.

David gets a call about Mike who has trouble breathing. The other doctors are surprised he let Mike go home. David inserts a breathing tube. After he asks where his brothers and sisters are, a medic says she hasn't seen them.

Kuol visits Victor and tells him he is a fighter. Victor asks him if he ever thinks of dying. Kuol says he doesn't worry because he lived a beautiful life.

David visits Mike and sees he can't speak. He tells Mike he needs a lung transplant. Mike uses scrap paper to write that his siblings are hiding. David tells a social worker that the kids are hiding because they are scared that they are going to be placed in foster homes.
