Where We Lie 1.6
- After her liver fails, the father of a gymnast discovers her daughter is not his biologically. Meanwhile, Lisa rushes to save a dying boy who was hurt during a carnival accident. Read the Vitemo recap and review to find out what happened on CBS's Three Rivers.
At a gymnastics competition, a woman named Val wishes her daughter Megan good luck. Before mounting the uneven bars, Megan takes several pills. In the middle of her routine, Megan collapses. Megan's parents yell for a medic.
At the hospital, Lisa tells Andy she is going on an ambulance ride along. Andy sees that Kuol is going to need a ventricular assistive device implanted. Kuol says he knows he can't pay for a heart, but Andy tells him they will think about that later.
At a carnival, a boy named TJ tells his friend he doesn't want to ride the octopus ride. The boy's friend convinces him to go on. Elsewhere, a boy named Dylan wins a prize in a dart game. The ride malfunctions, crashes into a building and crushes Dylan. The ambulance and Lisa arrive at the scene. Lisa puts a collar around Dylan's neck just in case his spine is injured. Dylan says he can feel his legs and his chest feels heavy.
Miranda asks Sophia why Boyle was talking about her dad during his operation. Sophia explains that her dad used to be Boyle's doctor. Sophia admits that she was very close to her father and some people misread their relationship. Sophia tells Miranda about Megan and explains it is not a sports injury. Miranda asks Megan if she is on any pain medication and she says she has taken several acetaminophen recently.
Andy asks Sophia about money for a heart for Kuol, but she says the hospital's budget for people in need has run out. Andy tells David they can't even get a VAD for Kuol and he needs a backup plan.
Sophia explains to Megan's parents that she has acute liver failure from an overdose of acetaminophen. Miranda explains that Megan has two fractured ribs and was taking the drugs for the pain. Sophia informs them that since the liver is damaged, they need to perform a transplant.
Back at the carnival, the firemen clear the wreckage. Lisa believes Dylan is bleeding internally and orders the ambulance to take them to the hospital as soon as possible. At the hospital, Andy examines the body and figures Dylan has a hemothorax. He explains to Dylan's mom they need to put a tube in Dylan's lungs to get the blood out.
Megan tells Miranda she didn't think she would get hurt from the pain pills. Miranda tells her that they have her listed in the organ donation program. Sophia tells Megan's parents Steve and Val they can donate part of their liver to Megan. She explains that although the operation is complicated, both of their organs will regrow after the procedure.
Meanwhile, Andy is able to stabilize Dylan. Later, The doctors tell Steve and Val that neither of them are a blood match for Megan. Sophia says Megan is on top of the organ receiving list.
David finds Kuol staring at the Donor's Wall. Kuol says he is lucky since he was in the fields when soldiers went to his house and killed his family. He says he fled hardship in Sudan and got the chance to come to America. He isn't sure if he is going to be lucky any longer. David tells Kuol that he might get a free VAD.
Val tells Sophia she suspects Megan is not her husband's biological daughter. She explains there were problems in their marriage around the time she conceived Megan. She says she wants to find Megan's real father to see if there is a chance he can donate. Sophia asks her to give her his name. Later, Sophia sees Megan's parents get in an argument after Val tells Steve the truth.
David asks Ryan if he can contact the company that makes the VADs so he can try to ask them for a free one. Ryan says he can't help since he was ordered to look for Megan's real father nonstop. David looks in the computer and learns the VAD manufacturer's representative is a woman named Samantha. Meanwhile, Andy and Lisa discover that Dylan is still bleeding internally.
