After he realizes she is gone, Stefan calls Elena. Elena crashes after he hits someone in the middle of the road. The person recovers and approaches as she watches from her overturned car, then quickly runs away. Damon arrives and helps her out of the vehicle. Before she passes out, Elena says she looks like Katherine. Damon carries Elena away.

On his computer, Alaric writes about how he drove a stake in a vampire's heart. Alaric remembers when he he woke up his girlfriend and told her he loves her.

Elena wakes up and discovers Damon has driven her to Georgia. Elena asks him to pull over and says they have to go back home. Damon tells her she doesn't have her locket of vervain. Damon answers Elena's phone and tells Stefan she doesn't want to talk to him. Damon assures Elena she will be safe and he won't use his power of persuasion.

At school, Jeremy catches Alaric digging in his car for his ring. Jeremy says he found a journal written by an ancestor who was one of Mystic Fall's founding fathers. Stefan asks Bonnie for help since Elena is with Damon. He gives her Elena's locket and asks her to use witchcraft to see if she can locate her. Bonnie concentrates, but realizes her powers are gone.

Elena asks if the person she hit was a vampire and Damon says he thinks he is, but he doesn't know him. Damon takes Elena to a bar where the bartender, Bree, recognizes him and gives him a kiss.

Bree proposes a toast to Damon who ruined her life and broke her heart. Bree says she met Damon in college where he told him her secret. Damon says Bree is a witch.
