During a Zenith Motor company event, the body of a saleswoman named Lazell Douglass is found in the trunk of a car. The team arrives to investigate. A salesman, Brad Elias, gives a statement to Cho and Patrick. After Brad says the staff is like a family, Patrick compares it to a gladiator pit. He tells them that Lazell's client list is on her desk, which causes the sales staff to race to grab it. Patrick tells Cho the man who stayed can be eliminated as a suspect.

Back at the dealership, the owner Oliver Westhoff describes his business as a profitable high end car selling operation. Patrick and Cho meet with James Kinsey, the person who discovered Lazell's body and the dealership's top salesman. James says he got along well with Lazell. Patrick figures that Lazell sold a lot of cars since she was beautiful. James admits he asked Lazell out, but she turned him down since she had a musician boyfriend named Jeff.

Grace and Wayne meet with Teresa in her office. She tells them dating within in the unit is against regulations. After they confirm they are in a relationship together, she says she has to report the situation to her superiors after the case, which Grace figures means one of them has to transfer out.

Patrick asks Teresa if she resents Wayne and Grace's relationship. They go to Jeff and Lazell's apartment and find him destroying his guitar. After Patrick makes him tea, Jeff explains he was taking out his sadness out on his instrument. Jeff says he wasn't a very good musician and didn't make very much money from it. Jeff says Lazell hated her job and was constantly hit on. He explains Lazell was always given gifts. Patrick notices a picture print he figures was very valuable. Jeff says Lazell wanted to use the money after selling it to fund their wedding.
