A woman is chased down the street by a car which eventually hits and kills her. The police identify the victim as Rosemary Tennant, a close friend of the Lt. Governor. The team arrives and are told that Rosemary had filed a missing person's report on her son Travis. The officer tells the team that Travis has been arrested for DUI and driving without a license. A woman named Kristina Frye arrives at the scene and identifies herself as Rosemary's spiritual advisor. She tells the detectives that Rosemary had just left her place of business and was walking home. Kristina says that she knew this would happen because she talked to Rosemary's late husband and he warned her. Patrick tells Kristina that it's strange that she knew about the details of the crime and tells her that she's now a suspect in Rosemary's murder. Kristina looks at Patrick and tells him that he is misreading the situation. Patrick says that this will be good and they bring her in for questioning.

Patrick asks Kristina how much she charged Rosemary. Kristina tells them that Rosemary was vulnerable after her husband's death and needed someone to talk to about their kids. The detectives ask Kristina to give them details about their sessions, but Kristina refuses based on patient client confidentiality. She says that although Rosemary's body is dead, she hasn't been given consent from Rosemary's soul to release any information. Patrick suggests that Kristina ask Rosemary who killed her the next time she talks to her. Kristina tells Patrick that Rosemary may not know the answer to that question. She then tells Patrick that he uses his arrogance to conceal a dark tragedy from his past. Patrick points out that anyone could find out about his past by doing a simple internet search. Kristina says she didn't research him and asks to leave.

Wayne, Teresa, and Patrick go to Rosemary's home and meet her boyfriend Jeremy. They see glasses out and ask if he had visitors. He tells them that he had some friends over after an art exhibition. He says that his art is what brought him and Rosemary together. The detectives ask about Rosemary's kids and Jeremy tells them that Clara is grown and isn't around much and Travis had issues like drug use and stealing. Patrick looks around the house while Wayne and Teresa continue to interview Jeremy. Teresa asks Jeremy if he knew that he was in Rosemary's will and Jeremy says yes. Wayne asks if he knew that Rosemary had met with her lawyer the day before she died to amend her will. Jeremy suggests that she may have written Travis out of her will because he was in so much trouble.

Patrick then calls out for the detectives to meet him upstairs. They walk into the room and see an elaborate photo studio. Jeremy acknowledges that it is his workspace. Patrick says that he can tell it used to be Travis's room from the lacrosse ball marks on the wall. Patrick points to the broken glass window and says that it is at fist or elbow height, so he guesses that Travis and Jeremy fought over the room and Jeremy kicked him out. Patrick then thinks that Travis must have moved his bedroom and finds that he was relocated to the attic.

The detectives return to the station. Teresa thinks that Jeremy looks guilty and notices that he wasn't grieving for Rosemary. Clara then walks into the station and sits down with the detectives. She asks if they found her brother yet and they say no. She cries and says that she can't believe her mom is dead and that she was just left in the gutter to die. The detectives ask if her mom changed after her dad died. Clara tells them that her mom lost control after her dad died. She says that Travis called her to tell her that she was being taken advantage of by everybody. Patrick reaches out and touches Clara's hand. He asks if her brother turned to drugs after their mom started changing and Clara says yes. She then tells them that they should look at Jeremy, adding that he scares her.

Patrick asks if he can use Clara's phone to try to call Travis. She says that he isn't answering her calls either, but he is free to try. Patrick walks off and leaves a message for Travis that he should go somewhere he feels safe. He says that horses make him feel safe and he likes to watch them go round and round.

Patrick, Wayne, and Cho go to the carnival and sit by the merry go round. They spot Travis and hop on. Travis realizes that he is surrounded by cops and he tries to leave. The detectives stop him and assure him that he is safe. They bring him in for questioning and he tells them that he loves his mom. He says that he left and couldn't go back home after his fight with Jeremy. Teresa says that his mom was giving away all their money and then she brought Jeremy into the house. She says that Travis knew where she would be and would have a motive to kill her. Travis says that he didn't kill his mom. Patrick says he believes him and they let him go.

Wayne discovers that Rosemary had added Kristina to her will very recently. Grace thinks that Kristina is innocent and says that Rosemary probably added her because she helped her with her pain. Grace then gets a call from Kristina who says she was picking up on something and she wants to meet with her. Patrick insists he goes with Grace to meet Kristina.
