I would think that any lawyer would have questioned the eye witness's certainty during the first trial. It is pretty well documented that witnesses often make mistakes when picking out the person they thought they saw. I would think more evidence would have been needed for a death sentence. Especially in Illinois which has had a moratorium on executions and very few people have been executed in the state since the 70s. I thought it was interesting to watch Alicia watch Patrice reunite with her husband. I'm sure Alicia imagines her reunion with Peter will not be as joyous. I thought it was weird that the result of the ruling was to blame Peter, but I suppose now Diane will stop questioning Alicia's motives.
