Crash 1.5
- While investigating a case involving three dead train operators, Alicia debates whether or not to expose someone's affair. Read the Vitemo recap and review to find out what happened on CBS's The Good Wife.
Alicia calls Jackie and tells her that the kids will have to wait until next week before they can see Peter. Jackie asks how many nights this week she will have to stay late and Alicia says just a few.
Cary and Alicia interview for a new assistant. The first candidate, Marnie, directs all her answers to Cary. Alicia tells Cary she wants to keep looking. Cary tells Alicia that he heard one of the partners is retiring. The two agree not to fight over the open position.
Alicia shows up for the meeting to discuss a train crash that resulted in deaths. Will is representing the men who died while trying to divert the train from hitting a neighborhood. Will is distracted by Diane, who is talking to one of the partners in the other room. Patricia Nyholm, the opposing attorney, makes fun of Will for arranging for her to run into the victim's widows. Patricia makes a deal to pay the widows off for 10 years of their husband's pensions. Will updates Diane and she says the case is not worth their time.
Diane asks Kalinda to do a background check on Malcolm Overby. Meanwhile, Will and Alicia meet with the widows who ask for an apology from the company. One of the widows says she needs the money and thinks they should settle. Will tells them that he believes their husbands were overworked which led to the crash, but he can't prove that in court. Alicia looks at the men's time cards. Will tells her she has ten minutes to agree to the settlement. Alicia notices that one of the memos that the train company sent to them is the same as one sent to the widows, except their copy is missing three names. Will tells Patricia they are going to court.
Will and Patricia meet with Judge Parks and Will argues that Patricia was withholding discovery by omitting names involved in the case. The judge tells Will he doesn't have enough evidence to justify a jury trial. The judge gives Will three days to question the names that were left off the memo. Will tells Alicia they will have to spend the next 72 hours focused on the case. Meanwhile, Jackie meets with Peter in prison and says Alicia is working too much.
Will tells Alicia their goal is to get more money for the widows. Alicia meets with Sarah Conley and Mr. Eldredge, a mechanic, and asks them an endless series of questions to buy time. Meanwhile, Will meets with Mr. Merriman and stalls with excessive notations. He tries to get Merriman to admit the workers were overworked. He points out to Will that he probably also makes his workers stay late.
Patricia meets with Will and Alicia with a new offer. She tells them the extra time allowed her to find out one of their clients was on speed at the time of the crash.
Kalinda investigates Malcolm. She gets a call from Alicia who asks her to look into the drug test results. Kalinda says she needs to finish her investigation into Malcolm first.
Alicia finds Linda Underwood, one of the widows, at the crash site. Alicia asks her about the drug test. Linda says her husband never did drugs. Alicia tells Linda to bring her the contents of her medicine cabinet.
Alicia and Will work late and discuss the case. Alicia tells Will about Kalinda's investigation, but leaves out the fact she was investigating Malcolm. Will explains that the power vacuum in the office is making people do strange things. Will notices they are the only ones left at the firm. Sarah Conley arrives and tells Alicia to look into Newberry Heights.
The next day, Alicia goes to Sarah's house. Sarah tells Alicia to leave, but Alicia says she can't. Alicia says she couldn't find anything in Newberry Heights. Sarah says there was a near miss of an accident involving one of their trains.
