Tyler and Candace go to the hospital where a nurse says she remembers the victim from an orientation sessions in which they were supposed to take care of cancer ward patients. At the headquarters, Lindsey tells the team that the coin is valuable since it was used by Abraham Lincoln. Alex gets a call from Grace who says they got a hit on their John Doe. She explains that a private lab found that the DNA of John Doe was in their system since he was arrested before. After Alex visits with Grace, she tells him that the Michael Sacks that the DNA matches doesn't fit the description of their victim. She adds that Michael Sacks died a while ago.

The medical examiner explains to Grace and Alex that the victim received a bone marrow donation from Michael Sacks since he had cancer. Alex announces that he is going to meet a friend about the coin. Greta meets Alex in the cafe. She says the coin was bought by an anonymous buyer online. Alex asks Greta to talk to him longer, but she says he stopped being her husband after their daughter disappeared. Alex apologizes for not being there for her. Greta says she has a meeting, then leaves. Lindsey calls Alex and tells him she found someone who knew Michael, a woman named Andrea Hudson.

Alex and Grace meet Andrea at the station and tell her that they need to talk to her about the person who received Michael's bone marrow. She says her son Matthew Hudson received it and asks if he is alright. Grace informs Andrea that he has to identify Matt's body. After Alex shows her the picture they found, she explains the picture is of Matthew when he had leukemia. She says after he got better, Matthew became obsessed with numbers and gambling. Andrea says she last saw Matthew on Mother's Day. She says he was seeing a girl named Olivia.

At the headquarters, Alex says they still have a lot of questions that are unanswered. Alex and Grace meet with Matthew's coworker Judd at the brokerage he worked at. He explains that Matthew was a risk taker. He says that a client got angry at Matthew before he died.
