After a fruitless search, Candace says the locations seem random. They wonder if the River John had a car. Grace and Alex assemble a team to search an impound lot. Alex finds a car with a blanket and pillow and figures that it is his car. He says he did the same thing while he was looking for his own daughter.

They see that the car belongs to Jack Carson. They meet with Jack at a garage. He says he sold a man a beater. He says the car that River John drove is at the lot. Alex asks him if he remembers anything. He says he remembers that the license plate had a bell on it.

At headquarters, they learn that 11 states have bells on their plates. Lindsay says she wants to go through pictures of the owners of the plates to see if they match the description of River John. Later, she finds that the man looks like a person named Henry Morse from Indianapolis.

They go to his house and meet Henry's neighbor, Jerry. He says that Henry divorced his wife a few months ago. He informs Jerry that Henry was murdered in Chicago. Lindsay says that Henry's wife Anna has custody of his daughter Claire. She tells Walter that Anna has a brother named Frank Breen.

Alex meets with Frank and asks him where he can find Anna and Claire. Frank punches Alex in the face. Alex fights back and takes him to the ground. He says Henry abused Anna. He says that she left town.

Alex meets with a local police officer. He says Henry asked him to look for his daughter, but since Anna had custody, they couldn't do anything. He tells Alex that Anna started to use drugs again. He says that he got close to Henry, but he later became irrational. He says that Henry hired a private investigator. He says that Henry got a voice mail from Chicago. Alex goes to Henry's office with Candace and Tyler. After he says he is Henry's brother, he is let in. Alex plays the voicemail and hears Claire call for help. Alex tells the team they need to find her.

Later, Alex says he wants to find Claire. He says he can empathize with Henry. He asks the team to help him, but warns it might be dangerous.

Candace and Tyler meet a man who recognizes Henry. He says that he was looking for Anna. The man recommends they talk to Tre. The police surround Tre and take him to the station. Grace asks him if Anna bought drugs from him. He admits that Henry asked him where Anna was. He admits that Anna would page him to ask for drugs. They wonder if Henry followed Tre to find Anna. Alex figures they should go back to the addresses found in Henry's book and ask people if they saw Anna.

Walter meets a newstand salesman who points him to an apartment building. A resident says that Anna moved out with two other people. They look at surveillance video and see Henry leave with his daughter. They see another man chase after them. The resident identifies him as the person who lived with Claire and Anna.

They figure Henry found Claire that morning and was killed that night. They go through the mail and find a letter sent to Anna from her old neighbor. Grace sees the man is named Jerry. Alex says he met him and he lied to him. They meet with Jerry. He says he helped Anna out since she was abused. He says he only tried to help a friend. Grace learns that the man Anna lived with is a man named Oscar, who has a record. Alex knocks on Jerry's door and figures he used drugs with Anna. Jerry admits he spoke to Anna the other day. She told him she didn't know Henry was dead. Alex takes Jerry's phone and asks Grace to trace the call.

They go to Ohio, the source of the call. The police surround a house owned by Oscar. He tells the police he doesn't want to go back to jail. Alex approaches the house and announces he is not a cop. Oscar takes Anna hostage and asks him to back away. Alex convinces him to put down his gun. The SWAT team rush Oscar and take him down. Alex looks for Claire and finds her hiding in a trunk. He tells her he is a friend of her dad. He holds her and tells her it is going to be okay.

Later, the team learns that Henry's car was stopped by Oscar. He went to confront him, but he was shot by Oscar. Oscar is arrested.

After the case, Alex visits Greta to thank her for her help. Alex informs her they found Claire. Alex holds her hand as Greta starts to cry. He tells her he will find their daughter.
