Sam and Lindsey have dinner. She suspects that Sam is in the witness protection program. Sam says he was in business with his brother, but made mistakes where a lot of people got hurt. Lindsey sees that Sam was hooked on something and shows him her three year sobriety chip. She says he too can change and earn forgiveness.

At the hospital, Dean and Castiel call for Raphael to return to his vessel. Later, they return to their hideout and find Raphael waiting for them. Raphael says he will not kill Dean, but will take him to Michael. Raphael says he can cause Dean far worse pain than Ezekiel. Raphael walks into a ring of Jerusalem oil. Dean lights the oil on fire which traps Raphael inside. Castiel asks where God is. Raphael says the horrors of the last century is proof that God is dead. He says he and his fellow angels just want an end to the battle with the demons. Castiel says his own resurrection is proof that God is still alive. Raphael suggests that Lucifer was the one who brought him back. Just before they leave, Raphael tells Castiel and Dean he will find them.

Back in Oklahoma, one of the hunters returns to the bar and asks Sam if there is something he wants to tell him. The hunter says they captured a demon who told him things about Sam. He says one of the hunters was killed when they were ambushed by other demons. Another hunter brings Lindsey into the bar at knife point. Sam convinces the hunter to put his knife down. Sam admits he started the apocalypse. The hunter tells Sam to drink a vial of demon blood and use his power to kill the rest of the demons. The hunters pin Sam down and pour the blood into his mouth. After they let him go, Sam gets up and spits out the blood. He beats them up and throws them out. They tell Sam they will be back.

Castiel and Dean head back home. Dean says he understands having a missing father. He says that didn't hear from his father for a long time, but had faith he was still out there. Castiel says that he still believes God is out there. Castiel asks Dean how he is doing without Sam. Dean says he spent too much time worrying about his brother. He says that he had more fun with Castiel in the last few days than he has with Sam in years. Dean looks over and realizes that Castiel is gone.

Meanwhile, Sam wakes up at the motel and sees Jessica in his bed. She asks him if he is going to live with his head buried in the sand. He says he thinks he can change. Jessica morphs into Lucifer. He tells Sam he is the one who freed him. Since he is just a vision, he asks Sam where he is. He says he wants to give him everything. He tells him the vessel he is in now is just temporary. He says that Sam was able to release him because he is his true vessel. Lucifer says that once he finds Sam, he will consent to giving up his mind and body. Sam threatens to kill himself, but Lucifer says he will bring him back. Lucifer says he will never lie to him and in the end Sam will be his vessel.
