Clark wakes up and sees that he is strapped to a chair in Chloe's lab. He sees that he has been injected by a green substance. He checks his phone and sees a text from Oliver that says he lost her. He looks around the city and sees that it is completely empty. He goes to the Daily Planet and finds it has been ransacked. He finds Lois working at the copy machine. When she turns, he sees that she has turned into a zombie.

The show jumps 12 hours earlier. Clark sits at his desk listening to the police scanner. Lois arrives to work late. She says that the Blur hasn't contacted her in a while. She sees that there is a fire that they should report on. Clark asks Lois if she wants coffee, quickly runs off to put out the fire, and returns with coffee. Lois asks if he smells smoke and sees that the fire was put out.

Clark hears a report of a speeding motorcyclist. Clark runs to the street, pushes a truck to block the driver and sees that it is Oliver. He tells him that he knows the loss of Jimmy affected them both. He admits that he should have listened to him and put away Davis earlier. Clark is disappointed that he is not crime fighting anymore. Oliver asks him what the S stands for. Clark says that it gives people hope. Clark rides off as a police car chases after him.

Later, Tess uses her computer to examine the symbols that her team found using satellite data. He asks one of her men if they found the Kryptonians and he says no. She says the longer it takes to find them, the easier it will be for them to blend in and disappear. They hear a gunshot from outside the room. Tess's man checks it out and sees that another guard was shot. The power goes out. The man motions to Tess to stay while he checks it out. He turns to say that it is okay, but a zombie crashes through the window and starts to beat him. Tess goes to her study, tries to call for help on her phone, but there is no dial tone. Several zombies enter and attack her. Tess uses a sword to slice at the zombies. A zombie grabs her and bites her shoulder just before Tess stabs it to death.

Clark and Lois go to the hospital to visit Tess. The doctors say that Tess is delusional and wonder if it is psychological. Lois asks Tess what happened, and sees that she is zombie-like. Tess pushes Lois across the room. Clark holds her down until the doctors sedate her.

Doctor Hamilton visits Chloe at the Watchtower. Clark arrives and asks her to test Tess's blood. She looks at Tess's video and sees a group of zombies invade her house. Hamilton figures that the men were infected by a rage inducing virus. Clark brings Hamilton to the hospital to talk with the CDC official, Doctor Coats. Clark listens with his super hearing while Coats speaks. Coats says that the virus is probably airborne and germinates in the victim while they are asleep. Coats says that they are going to quarantine the Daily Planet because that is where they found Tess. Clark worries about Lois.

Meanwhile at the Daily Planet, the lights go off and on. Randall, the editor, attacks Lois in the office. Lois escapes into another room where she runs into another employee who has been infected. Clark arrives and tells her that he will get her out of there. Several zombies ambush them as they go up the stairs. Lois is bit in the leg. Clark manages to throw one zombie into the others and knock them out. Clark carries Lois to safety.
