Veronica goes to a Iraqi veterans support meeting and meets with Gerard who tells the group that Veronica would like to share. She reluctantly stands to talk. She says she was a nurse in Iraq and since she got back her reactions have been out of proportion. She talks about how her situation when her husband found out she had an affair in Iraq. She says she cares about Chris, but it doesn't matter now since he met someone else. Veronica shares she stopped drinking and is working a lot. She starts to cry as she says she now since she no longer has any direction.

Back at the hospital, Harris tries to revive a patient, but Klowden says the patient has been down for twenty minutes. Harris gets upset he lost someone, kicks angrily, slips, falls and ends up losing feeling in his legs.

Veronica treats a cystic fibrosis patient named Gabe who has trouble coughing up phlegm. She has him blow into a meter to test his lungs and sees his capacity has decreased. He explains he went out of town where he landed a gig as a piano player. Chris walks in and tells him he should have a lung transplant.

Gillian tests Harris to see if he has feeling in his legs. Chris walks in and assures him they will make him better. Chris tells him someone has to check his rectal tone and suggests Gillian do it.

While Klowden is trying to figure out who should tend to Harris, Sonya says she has to work in the pregnancy ward since they are understaffed. Klowden asks Chloe if she can watch over Harris. Angel chants Chloe's name and has the other nurses convince her to take on Harris.

A doctor introduces Sonya to a pregnant woman named Hannah. Hannah explains she got pregnant during a one night stand and will give the baby up for adoption. Hannah says the adoptive parents Brett and Karen are in the waiting room. Sonya meets them and sees they are excited.

Veronica comes home and is asked by her parents if she wants a drink. Veronica declines and explains she is taking a break from alcohol. Veronica is surprised after Mike arrives and says he is going to take her father out for a walk. He adds that he has been picking up often to take him out. Mike tells Veronica he doesn't think Jim should be driving anymore since he has been confused lately. Jim comes out and forgets he is out there to go for a walk.

Hannah delivers the baby while Brett and Karen watch. Hannah asks if she can see her baby which concerns the adoptive parents. Sonya hands her over just before Hannah asks for a moment alone. She tells Sonya she didn't think he would be so beautiful.

Veronica finds Gabe out of the bed and playing a piano. He starts to play and sing, but is interrupted by his cough. Veronica suggests he wear a breathing aid vest while he sleep, but he puts it on her, turns it on and shows her that it is very loud. As she talks, Gabe tells Veronica he sounds like T-Pain. They go out to a diner to have a burger. Chris walks in and informs Gabe they found a organ donor and can operate that night.

Sonya tells Brett and Karen that Hannah wants to keep her baby. They say Hannah can't even take care of herself. Sonya explains the law is on Hannah's side and suggests they go home and wait it out.

Harris is taken to an MRI scanning room where he is accompanied by Chloe. After Harris Harris asks for some drugs, Chloe figures he is claustrophobic. Chloe suggests he talk about something he likes, then he starts to talk about chess.

As Gabe is being wheeled in for his transplant, Chris informs him that they have to cancel. After learning that Gabe had a blood transfusion recently, Chris says the procedure made him sensitive and will cause him to reject his lungs. After Veronica asks if there is any other options, Chris says there is a Desensitization protocol, but there is no guarantee it will work.

Harris's doctor informs Gillian and Chloe he couldn't find any damage in Harris's spine. He tells them that Harris might have a conversion disorder or hysterical paralysis. He suggests Chloe push him off his bed or they can use a scrotum clamp to test him.

Hannah tells Sonya she would like her mom to meet her grandson. Sonya suggests she call her mom right now. She calls her and tells her she just had a boy named Dylan. She asks her if she can live with her, but her mom is not supportive. Hannah tells her she regrets calling, then hangs up. Hannah tells Sonya she is going to figure something out. Sonya asks her if she has a plan B, but she says it is not her business. Sonya volunteers to take her home.

Veronica sees Gillian talk to Mike about Jim. They explain that Jim missed his appointment and instead her mom took him to Costco. Mike gives Veronica a bracelet and explains it is for if he wanders off. Veronica says Jim is a proud Irishman, but he says he is worried about him.

Chris tells Gabe that if he doesn't go through the protocol, he can't get a lung transplant. Gabe says he is done there before he starts to pack. Veronica tells Gabe that he is going to die if he doesn't get his operation. Gabe says he wants to start living and is sick of fighting. Gabe invites Veronica to watch him play piano, but Veronica tells him he won't last long if he leaves.

Harris asks his doctor if he can run more tests. The doctor says he has to run to see other patients. Chloe walks in and suggests they go for a ride. She pushes him through the hallway, abruptly stops and launches him off the chair. Chloe explains she thought he was just sad and experiencing a conversion disorder.

After work, the nurses go bowling. Sonya asks Angel to give Hannah a ride since she doesn't have a car. Sonya sees that Veronica started drinking again. After they see Chris and Gillian enter, Chloe asks if they are dating. Gillian says she used to be in a bowling league. After pounding a shot, Veronica tells the nurses they should beat the doctors. While they play Veronica, tells Chris he should have tried harder to get Gabe to stay at the hospital. Since she thinks Chris went over the line during his turn, Veronica walks up into the lane to bowl, but slips and falls. Chris ends up carrying Veronica home.

Jim sees Veronica being carried over Chris's shoulder and asks what is going on. Veronica explains what happened at the bowling alley. Veronica asks Chris to apologize to Gillian for her since they seem happy together. Chris admits he is happy before he leaves.

Veronica wakes up the next morning with a hangover. Jim tells her caffeine is bad for her and says he will make her a special cure. Jim asks what is going on with her and Chris. Jim says he knows she is going through a rough time. Veronica tells her she is worried about him, but he assures her he is not dead yet. Veronica brings out the bracelet that Mike got him and explains it is just a precaution. Jim agrees to wear it and says it is no big deal. Jim thinks the bracelet is like a dog collar and Veronica says she said the same thing.

As Hannah is being loaded into Angel's car, they see Karen who says she has things for Dylan. She explains she wanted to be a mother for a long time and hopes the items will get Hannah on a good start. She tells Sonya to tell Hannah good luck. In the car, Dylan starts to cry. After Hannah asks what is going on, Sonya says he just woke up and isn't a big deal. Since she sees that she is getting upset, Sonya gets in the back seat and tells her that she hasn't had a chance to grow up yet. Hannah asks how she can give her up. Sonya calls Brett and Karen and tells about getting Dylan back.

Chloe meets with Harris who explains he knows he is consumed with grief. He says he doesn't think his inability to feel his legs has anything to do with that.

Veronica visits Gabe in the bar as he plays the piano. She apologizes she told him he should be dead by now. She assures him she will support him whatever he does. Gabe says he will dedicate the next song to him just as he sings Don't Forget About Me and adds an improv about dying from cystic fibrosis.
