In Molly's room, Nate asks why Molly's abdomen is in pain, but Harris says he doesn't know yet. Molly's mother, Tammy, arrives, says she has full custody, and wonders why Nate took her to a hospital out of her network. Nate insists he will pay for the treatment. After the parents leave, Veronica asks what she should do with her stuffed animals. She tells her to get rid of everything except a frog. Veronica sees that Molly is reading Carrie. Molly explains she likes that in books the monsters get it in the end. She explains this is her third time reading it and thinks the kids that teased Carrie are the monsters.

At the bar, Angel tells the other nurses that he is on the cleanse diet. Veronica jokes that they should celebrate her shooting someone, but realizes it is too soon to kid around. Veronica says she is going to meet with Chris later when he meets her mom. Sonia says she thinks her relationship with Nick is over. Veronica gets a call from her mom who tells her that her dad put turpentine on the stove and almost burned down the house.

Veronica returns home and finds Mike fixing the kitchen. Mike tells Veronica that she notices that she has been drinking a lot. He says she scared her the other day and doesn't think the booze will help. Veronica admits she can't sleep. Chris arrives and sees that Mike is there. Chris offers to help, but Jeannie says they are fine. After Jeannie walks Mike out, Veronica suggests to Chris they go back to his place.

While in bed with Chris, Veronica flashes back to the time at the donut shop when she shot the robber.

The next day at work, Veronica wonders if Molly is stressed. Tammy introduces Veronica to her brother Greg who brought Molly a present which is a case of makeup. After Molly and Greg leave, Molly say she says she thinks the gift is lame. Veronica gives Molly The Stand and suggests they read it together.

Joe meets with the ER nurse for lunch and boasts about the procedures he can do. He gets a call and takes off.

Veronica returns to Molly's room and sees that she is not in bed. She finds her in the bathroom with her crotch covered in blood. After Harris checks on her, he tells Veronica that Molly was menstruating, left her tampon in and possibly suffered from toxic shock. He says there is sign of infection in the cervix. After he looks under the microscope, he tells Veronica that the infection looks like something terrible.

At her house, Lauren asks Sonia to leave her morphine so she can kill herself, but Sonia says she can't do it. Lauren says when Paul left her the other day, he finally referred to her as mom. Sonia insists she has a long time of quality of life. Lauren tells her she will be fired if she doesn't help. She tells her she knows that she is enjoying living the high life which she suspects is probably the reason she dumped Nick to be with Paul. Sonia leaves the room after telling Lauren to go to hell.

Joe takes Chloe's earbuds off and asks her if she has a car. He asks her to give her a ride to a restaurant in Newark. Joe explains he can't drive and explains he needs her to take him to a VIP house call.

Veronica wonders how Molly can talk to her mother about contracting gonorrhea. Tammy tells Harris and Veronica that Molly admitted to having sex with four boys. Harris tells her they have to inform the Center for Disease control since there is an epidemic of the disease. Veronica explains the disease explains her recent pain in her abdomen. Tammy says she wants to be there for Molly now. Veronica asks if she can set up a cot to stay in her room. Harris tells her that she needs to take a few days off work.

Veronica takes a call from Chris who asks her what she is wearing. After Chris says he tried to call her, she says she left her phone in his apartment. Chris says he was concerned since he left her for work without saying anything. Veronica jokingly asks him to make her a Beef Wellington on his day off by the time she gets back home.
