In the past, Charlie brings Sylar some coffee and notices he has a rare watch. She explains she is really into wikipedia. Sylar quizzes Charlie and figures her genius memory is due to a blood clot in her brain. Sylar admits he also has a gift. Samuel appears at the diner and asks Hiro to talk. Noah meets with a female agent named Lauren in the diner. He tells her he wishes he could tell Sandra the truth. Lauren says she has to make excuses why she misses out on family events. Noah says it is nice they can talk as friends. Lauren says she thinks he is flirting with her. She says she booked a hotel room for them to get together later. Noah gets a call and leaves.

Hiro tells Samuel he wants to save Charlie. Samuel says he is there to protect him and tells him Charlie is not worth the risk of jeopardizing other people's future. HIro stops time just as Sylar is about to cut into Charlie's head in the back room. Hiro loads Sylar into a baggage compartment of a bus. He returns to the diner and gives himself a pep talk. Hiro realizes if he saves Charlie he won't go back in time where he falls in love with her. Hiro looks at a picture of Charlie during her birthday and sees he is not there like he supposed to be. Hiro goes to his past self in the bathroom and instructs him to save Charlie since he is their true love. He tells him to go back six months in the past to meet with Charlie during her birthday. He checks the picture and sees himself with Charlie.

Meanwhile, Noah meets with Isaac who painted visions of Claire being attacked. Noah says he knows Sylar is going to try to kill her. He tries to convince him to tell him where Sylar is, but he doesn't talk. Lauren arrives and tells Noah she heard everything and had no idea his daughter was in danger. Lauren kisses Noah, but he pushes her away. Lauren assures him they will stop Sylar before Claire's homecoming.
