Melinda finds that Amy died from breast cancer eight months ago. Delia suggests that Amy carried Nathan's baby, but raise4d him as her husband's son. Melinda looks up the son, who is 21 now. Melinda finds Aiden drawing on the window. Aiden says the man's little boy needs his help. He says the boy is in his daddy's house and he is really angry.

Melinda meets with Eli and says she couldn't find Garrett. Melinda says she knows he graduated from MIT and thinks he might be working with Nathan. Amy appears and says she doesn't know why he is there. Melinda asks if Garrett is planning revenge against Nathan. Melinda realizes Garrett is angry because she never told him the truth. Amy explains that Garrett found his birth certificate after she died and thinks Nathan abandoned them.

Eli and Melinda go to Nathan's press conference. They find Nathan and tell him about Amy and Garrett. He is shocked to learn he has a son. They go over his employee files and find a guy named Zack that fits his son's profile. They go off to search for Garrett who is walking the halls with access to the security system. Garrett hacks into Nathan's computer. He then overhears Melinda and Nathan talking about him. Garrett locks Melinda and Nathan into the saferoom, then cuts the power.

Garrett uploads Nathan's new software for people to download for free. Amy appears and tries to tell him to stop, but he continues. A fire then breaks out in the security system, and both Garrett and Nathan panic. The room fills with smoke and Melinda tries to block the vent. Amy appears and tells them Garrett never meant to cause them physical harm. Meanwhile, Garrett tries to put out the fire.

Amy appears to Eli and tells him to rescue Nathan and Melinda. The guard sees Garret at the security system and tries to stop him. Amy tells that Eli Garrett is the only who can help. Eli tells the guard to let Garret go. Garrett manages to open the panic room door, then is taken away by the guard.

At the station, Melinda asks Amy why she hid the truth. She says she didn't know she was pregnant at first. She says she went out one day, then passed out and was taken to the hospital where she learned she was pregnant. She says she planned to tell Nathan, but he had moved out of their home.

Nathan tells Melinda and Eli that he bailed Garrett out. They then sit down and discuss the past. He says one day Amy didn't come home and he panicked. He says he was reminded of what happened to his sister and never wanted to go through that again, so he took off. Nathan says he never let Amy explain what happened. Melinda points out his passcode is November, the month he and Amy broke up. Garrett says he researched Nathan when he found out he was his father to see how they could be alike. Amy says they are both generous. Garrett says he wanted to give away his software because he read Nathan originally wanted the software to be free. Nathan tells Garrett he reminds him of himself. Amy then says goodby and goes into the light.

Jim gives Aiden a flashlight as a gift and Aiden says his friends will love it. They all go to Aiden's room and he says he thought they could see his friends. He says his friends aren't ghosts, but they like shiny things.
