In her Hong Kong office, the agent who contacted Demetri about his case watches A Christmas Carol. On her glass window, she has evidence taped up along with a photo of Demetri labeled A561984. Demetri and Mark arrive in Hong Kong. Mark gets a call from Stanford, but ignores it. Marshall Vogel from the FBI arrives and tells them they know they are there to investigate Demetri's potential murder. He suggests they go back home in order to keep their jobs. Mark finally takes Stanford's call who tells them they were not supposed to be there. Mark says he lied to Demetri and told him that he was okay with coming to the country. Mark explains he is trying to protect him just in case the case turns bad.

Meanwhile in Palo Alto, a man named Gordon Myhill holds a press conference to talk about the blackout. Before he is introduced, Simon tells Lloyd to stick to the script. Lloyd takes stand and explains his group is working on proton driven plasma wake fields. He says he was conducting an experiment just before the blackout. He states his experiment was the cause of the blackout. The press bombard Lloyd with questions. A reporter asks if he is taking responsibility for the deaths during the blackouts. Simon says there are risks with all experiments. Lloyd apologizes for any harm he caused and explains his own wife was killed. Lloyd says all of his experiments will be put on hold indefinitely. A woman grabs a guard's gun and shoots at Lloyd before she is taken down. Backstage, Simon tells Lloyd that he doesn't think they are to blame for the blackout.
