A crowd gathers to watch a concert as the band performs Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart. After the song, Dante, the lead singer drops his microphone while the crowd cheers his name. He runs backstage where he passes a hallway full of adoring fans. He pushes into his room, finishes off a bottle of whiskey and throws it against his vanity mirror. He cleans off his makeup as he stares at his elongated teeth.
A man asks two fans, Gina and Tara if he can walk them back to their apartment, but one of the girls tell him they can take care of themselves. Later, Tara hears a knock at the door and opens it. A hooded figure enters the room and chokes the girl to death.
At the FBI headquarters, JJ reports that the latest victim Tara Farris was found dead near a freeway off ramp. JJ says there was less than a pint of blood on her when she was found. They see a message on Tara's arm that says 'The Liar.' JJ states Tara bled out through wounds made in the neck. Spencer realizes that someone drank the victim's blood.
JJ tells the team they will have to work with Agent Owen Kim. Spencer says the killer's and other vampirist's true target is blood. He says true cases of vampirists are rare. Garcia informs there is a huge subculture of Vampire in Los Angeles. Garcia says she will go through the websites and see what she can find. Spencer says vampirists are coveters and become obsessed with someone who cross their path.
In Los Angeles, Ray, the band manager, walks up to Dante's room and announces he is late for a meeting. Dante asks if he has to become his character. Ray sees blood on Dante's pillow and asks what happened, but Dante doesn't remember.
Kim introduces himself to the team and shows them their briefing room. Hotch informs Kim that Derek is now in charge of the team. Derek directs the team to work on the case.
At night, Dante is airlifted to a club where a group of fans cheer him on.
Spencer and JJ work on finding a connection between the victims. Back at the club, Dante is introduced to a magazine writer named Jeff. Jeff asks Dante about his vampire thing. Dante makes fun of his fans. Ray apologizes for Dante's behavior.
Emily and David go to Tara's apartment. On the wall, Emily notices a poster of Dante who has vampire teeth. They open Tara's laptop and figure they should hack into her profile accounts.
Ray suggests Dante not to make fun of his fans. Ray says they used to have fun, but Dante says he is upset he only plays a character instead of making music. A girl bumps into Dante and drops a platter. He asks if she knows who he is and suggests they get out of the club and have some fun.
Hotch and Derek examine Tara's body. The ME says a sharp boring instrument was used to puncture Tara's neck. The ME also states he found saliva on the wounds and is in the process of testing it for DNA. Later, the news reports about another body found.
Garcia is able to break into Tara's computer by entering the password Cullen. JJ explains to Spencer that Cullen is the name of the family in Twilight.
At the scene where another body was dumped, the team sees the phrase, 'The Liar', written on her chest. Derek says he is ready to create a criminal profile.
