A man tells his friends not to start the video without him. He throws them beers, sits down, and starts the video. They watch themselves storm a house with two couples inside and hit a man with a crowbar. They record as one of the friends asks a beaten man who his girlfriend is. The woman asks why and they say why not. They beat them all to death with crowbars.

JJ tells the team that they found four people bludgeoned to death after a home invasion. Emily says that the neighborhood is being gentrified. JJ says that one couple was black while the other was white. The team suspects that there might be more bodies in the future.

The team goes to the scene and meets with Detective Andrews. He reports that the attackers used a key to get inside. He warns them that the house is bloody. They go in and find the couples brutally beaten. Andrew says that there are frequent patrols. Hotch sees a trail of blood leading into the house and figures the attacker had help carrying one of the owners into the house. David suspects that there were at least three attackers. He says he doesn't think kids were responsible since the attack seemed efficient.

JJ briefs the team on a string of vandalism in the neighborhood. They wonder why the attackers went from non-violent to violent crimes. Hotch tells Garcia to check social networking sites. Spencer says that some of the long time residents probably feel like they are being pushed out by new wealthier people who are moving in.

Meanwhile, a man asks a construction worker why he is taking too long to build his house. The worker stares at his wife and says he is concerned that the foundation might fail if they don't do it right.

JJ tells Hotch that the victim's families are there. They learn that there were no threats that the families knew of. A woman named Tamara asks Derek if she can see her brother's body, but he says that it probably won't help. Derek says that he is sorry. Tamara figures that Derek thinks the case is routine. She asks what will happen if this were to happen to one of his siblings and he says that he would do whatever it takes to catch the killers.

Elsewhere, a construction worker shows his friend the video that they made set to music. Another man can't stop thinking about the man who asked him to hurry up. He tells the others that he wants to go out. They go to a liquor store. The clerk notices that they are acting suspicious. The men buy beer and leave.

Later, they go to a parking lot. They see a guy waiting to pick up his girlfriend. They tell the guy that he has a nice car then smash it up with a large crowbar. One of the men grabs the girlfriend and tells her to be quiet.

In the morning, the team discovers the couple's bodies. They see that their faces were badly beaten. The team figures that the killings were done for violence and power. Andrews says that he is angry and Hotch tells him that the killers are trying to bring everyone down to their level.

At the headquarters, Garcia tells Derek that he has company. He sees that Tamara is there. She says she heard what happened on the news and asks if he has any suspects. Derek says that they are looking for the men. He explains that the men are probably disenfranchised and feel like they have nothing to lose. Derek tells Tamara that the killers don't feel empathy. Garcia sees Tamara touch Derek while she thanks him.

Hotch tells the detectives that the killers are committing violence for violence sake. He says that they believe the unsubs were wearing gloves. He says that the men are probably physically fit. He suggests they stake out the crime scenes because they probably will return. Hotch tells Andrews that they should fight their normal reaction to seek revenge.

Garcia sees that there is a text message posted online for a riot planned to take place that night. Hotch figures that the killers are not responsible since they don't like to share the attention. They go to the scene and see the streets littered with debris and cars on fire. Hotch tells the police to confiscate all the cellphones to find out who the ring leader is. The team finds the two cellphones that started the riot.
