A bike messenger recklessly weaves in and out of traffic. A masked man in a car crashes into the messenger and steals his bag.

At the apartment, Alexis helps Martha set up her a profile for a social site. Martha asks Castle which picture she should put up and shows him several old photos of herself. Castle suggests she use a recent photo, but she ignores his advice. Castle gets a call from Beckett who reports there is a dead body.

Castle arrives at the scene before Beckett. He describes the victim as Caleb Schimansky, but stumbles during his presentation. Esposito says several witnesses reported the suspect's plates. Ryan says they ran the plates and found it was stolen a few hours ago.

At the station, Beckett updates Roy on the case. Beckett says she doesn't know what was in the messengers bag. Castle jokes and says he thinks the messenger was carrying either nuclear launch codes or Dick Cheney's soul on the way to the devil. After Beckett sees that Roy is distracted, he admits their budget is under review and they might lose detectives.

Esposito learns the bag contained a package that was sent by a man named Shakir who is on the terrorist watch list. They see the package was going to be sent to a police precinct. They raid the apartment of Shakir and discover an elderly lady named Sally Niedermeyer. They figure the messenger company wrote down the wrong name. Beckett asks what was in the package that was sent to the police. She says the package came from her nephew Brady who gave it to her before he went to prison several years ago. Sally says Brady called and asked her to deliver the package to Roy, the person who arrested Brady. Beckett informs Sally that Roy is their boss.

Beckett informs Roy about the package. He says that Brady confessed he killed a woman ten years ago. Esposito reports that Brady was shanked and died in prison this morning. Roy orders Esposito to contact Brady's wife. Paigely, the bike messenger's sister, arrives to meet with Beckett. Castle watches as Beckett tells her the bad news. Roy says he is not okay since Paigley's brother died trying to deliver a package to him.

The detectives play the phone call that Brady made to instruct Sally to deliver the package. They then listen to the call Brady made to Val, his wife. They hear that Brady was concerned for their lives. Beckett reports that their is no witnesses on Brady's attack since he was killed in the prison yard. Ryan reports that Brady's son has appointments with a doctor every Tuesday due to a respiratory problem.

At home, Martha tells Castle she has been bombarded by endless friend requests. She says people who she doesn't want to reconnect with are wasting her time. She sees that her high school sweetheart Chet sent her a message to meet. Castle informs her that Chet expects that she looks younger.

Back at the station, Esposito says Val and her son Jared are at the station. Val asks Beckett if they have any idea who killed Brady. She explains that the package was Brady's insurance policy that would prove he was innocent. Val admits that her family was receiving monthly payments in exchange for Brady confession of guilt. She says they needed the money to help Jared with his illness. Val says she is not sure if Brady knew who the killer was.
