Bones and Colin see that the victim was beaten and stabbed. Cam says that the victim was alive when he was tossed in the grease. She also finds that the victim had a high dosage of carbon dioxide in his lungs. Since the victim has a hunch and bite marks on his leg, Bones wonders if the man was a mail carrier.

Booth reports that the victim, Steve Rifton, was reported missing by his wife twelve days ago. Bones wonders if the mailman was having an affair. The meet with his wife who says that Steve was a video game champion of a game called Punky Pong. After the wife says that Steve was in a competitive sport, Bones says that Booth would never consider it being a sport.

Colin explains that he is putting the body in beer so it would break away the flesh faster. Since they have time, Hodgins, Sweets and Colin plan out how they should get in line so they can watch Avatar. Angela walks in and tells them to get out.

Booth and Bones meet a kid named Dougie in his garage who is playing Punky Pong. His father walks in and explains that he caught Steve watching his autistic son play Punky Pong, so he reported him to the police. At the institute, Angela tells Bones that thousands of players play Punky Pong. Angela explains that the game purists only consider records to be broken when played on one of the cabinet machines. Angela says that there are only 1,500 Punky Pong machines out there. They show a video of Billy Gabel, a former Punky Pong champion who threatens Steve.

The team plays Sweets the video of Billy. Sweets says that Billy is capable of murder since he loved the status of being a champion which was taken away by Steve. Hodgins calls Sweets and tells him that Colin needs a break from standing in line for Avatar. Hodgins shows Cam crickets and grass seed that were found near the body. He explains he can narrow down where the evidence originated from. After Cam asks where Colin is, Hodgins says he will go find him.

Booth, Sweets and Bones meet with Billy at his workshop. He tells the team that Steve cheated when he broke his record. After they inform him that Steve is dead, Billy says he is more angry at the referee who accepted Steve's score, Chris Ballinger. He adds that Chris might be the one responsible since he has a new girlfriend who is trying to beat his score.

Hodgins meets with Colin in line who sets him up with a tent and a box of wine so he can run back to work. At the lab, Cam notices that Colin is breathing heavily. Colin says that the victim was hit in the head by a blunt object. He says he also found metal shavings on the stabbing wounds. Cam asks where Hodgins is and Colin lies by saying he is out in the lab.

Sweets, Booth and Sweets go to the arcade. They meet with Chris who says that he is also looking for Steve since he bailed out on a deal he made with him. They inform him that Steve is dead. A girl who just beat Steve's score, Deirdre, asks Chris what is going on. After Bones finds blood stains on the Punky Pong game, Booth says they have to bring it back to the lab.
