Cam confirms the victim as being Bryce. She tells Nigel that Bryce had a violent criminal record. Nigel says he found three grooves on the skeleton which was there before he died.

Sweets greets Booth before they meet with Bryce's twin brother and his sister in law. The brother Derek, who is average sized, says he always worried about Bryce. He explains Bryce quit drinking and was more responsible after he started wrestling. Derek's wife Nicole says the last time Derek saw his brother was when he offered to testify during his parole hearing. Derek says Bryce was guaranteed to be released since he testified against his cellmate in return for parole.

Sweets and Gordon meet with Bryce's cellmate who says they look more like a substitute teacher and a fry cook rather than cops. Gordon gets upset at the comparison. They tell him that they know Bryce ratted him out for parole. The cellmate says that he got out and worked a job in road construction. The team suggests he killed Bryce, but says that he only received three days in solitary which is not worth killing for. He admits that he cooked up the plan as a favor to Bryce. He explains that Bryce was highly motivated to get out. He says that Bryce got a dear John from a woman from the outside.

Angela has lunch with Gordon who eats a large sandwich. He asks her if she noticed any changes with Booth. Angela says Booth has recently been sad since he had a dream of being with Booth. Gordon figures that Booth fell in love with Bones during his dream. Gordon is frustrated with the sandwich, but Angela advises he enjoy it.

Back at the sinkhole, Hodgins says he found an old pedestrian underpass that collapsed and was later paved over. Booth notices a nearby gold dealer. They learn the place was robbed in which the thieves took one hundred twenty grand worth of coins. Bones finds a small grate on the floor and figures Bryce dug his way and entered the store through the opening.

Back at the lab, Bones and Nigel wonder how Bryce was killed. Nigel figures that Bryce was shot from above while he was hanging.

While Sweets and Gordon have dinner together, Sweets states Bones uses her intellect to shield herself from love. He explains Booth believes any act on his feelings towards Bones will amount to a form of assault. Sweets wonders if Booth's inability to shoot straight is a manifestation of his sexual frustrations.
