Bones and Angela look over the video and discuss the horrible conditions the chickens are kept in. Bones asks Angela if she is upset and Angela says she is. Angela wonders how Bones can't be upset, pointing out that it is obvious that the chickens feel pain. Angela says she was able to obtain the owner of the camera that shot the footage by tracing the metadata. Angela shows Bones that the serial number was linked to a warranty belonging to Gaynor Rabin. Angela asks Bones what she thinks about pigs and Bones says she is a vegetarian. Angela asks Bones to support a pig, but Bones refuses, saying it is pointless. She says the people who live down wind from them would benefit, namely a baker named Roy Meyers.

Booth and Bones meet with Roy and he says he has been trying to get the chicken farm shut down because of the stench. Bones asks if he was motivated by financial gain and Roy says yes. Roy lights up a cigar and Bones asks if the cigar clipper could cut off a thumb. Roy says it sure could.

Angela, Wendell and Camille go over the remains. Wendell compliments Angela's brilliance as they show Camille the injuries sustained before death and after. Camille sees that there were mechanical marks on the skull. Hodgins walks in and announces the cigar cutter couldn't have caused the injuries. Wendell says it was his job, but Hodgins says they all step in to help each other out. Angela gets nervous, but the discussion continues. Camille then suggests the instrument used to clip beaks off of chickens could have caused the injuries.

Booth and Bones bring Gina McNamara to the station and she says her job is to clip the beaks off the baby chickens. She says she was demoted from plucking after she charged Nick with sexual harassment. Bones says Gina's machine was used to cut off Nick's fingers. Gina says she doesn't know anything about it, but wouldn't have minded if it was done to him.

Sweets calls Bones to his office and suggests she be the one to apologize to Angela. Bones says she wasn't the one who was irrational, but Sweets tells her she should concede this one to Angela. Bones then looks at the picture of the piglet and agrees he is cute.

Bones then suggests that the weapon was spinning instead. She realizes the equipment that could have caused the injury. Booth brings in the chicken plucker and they find blood. They turn the machine on and Bones shows how Nick's tie could have gotten caught in the machine and broke Nick's neck. Camille and Booth think Bones proved Nick's death was an accident, but Bones says there is a safety mechanism that would have shut it off. She says someone blocked it with their hand and suggests they look for an employee with a broken hand.

Booth and Bones bring in the security guard and ask him about his broken hand. He says he worked there for eight years. He says his wife got sick while working there and they had to move away. He says he wanted a gas allowance. He and Nick got into a fight over it, then Nick accidentally got shoved into the plucker.
