A security guard notices a dead body hanging on an electric fence.

Later, Booth's boss, Andrew Hacker, arrives to drop off some paperwork. He admits he wanted to say hello to Bones. He tells her he enjoyed reading her book.

At the scene, Bones tells Booth that Hacker wants to have sex with her. She says he wasn't explicit, but she can tell he wanted to since he asked her out to dinner. Cam suspects the dead body was put on the fence by environmentalists. Sweets arrives and asks Bones if Daisy can become her intern again. He says he has been teaching her calming techniques. Bones agrees to give her a 24 hour probational period.

Cam, Bones and Booth smell the dead body. Bones says since it smells like frankincense and myrrh, the body is probably a thousand year old mummy. Cam notices a fresh blood stain on the mummy's leg that appears to have been fatal. Booth wonders if the mummy killed someone.

Back at the institute, Booth tells Angela there are no reports of stabbings or missing mummies. Bones wonders why someone would kill for the mummy. Bones arrives at the examination room and sees Daisy trying to contain her excitement. Angela reports the environmentalists found the mummy in a dumpster and used it to send the power company a message. Hodgins finds a drying agent on the mummy. Daisy raises her hand to speak and says the mummy was a male. Hodgins figures the mummy was either a pharaoh or prince. They find his chest opened up and wonder if there was treasure hidden insideBones starts to become excited at their find which that triggers Daisy to lose control of her enthusiasm.

In his office, Booth calls around to find if anyone has lost a mummy. Andrew tells Booth he got a call from a man who complained about Booth waking him up to ask about a mummy. Booth tells him about the case, but Andrew is not interested. After Andrew asks him if he has a relationship with Bones, Booth says he doesn't.

Bones gives Angela the mummy's head and asks her to do a facial reconstruction. Bones and Daisy look over the bones. They see one of the bones is bowed and that he has a flat forehead. Bones figures the mummy is Anoch, as known as the boy with the bleeding heart. She explains he was called that because he was sad because his brother was killed and he was executed because his dad thought he murdered him. Daisy says Anoch was supposed to have an exhibit in the Jeffersonian. Sweets motions Daisy to control herself. She accuses him of watching her too close.

Bones and Booth goes to the curator's office, Dr. Caswell. After they knock and don't hear an answer, Booth kicks the door down. They notice blood dripping from a sarcophagus. They open it and find Dr. Caswell dead with a bloody eye.

They bring her body to the lab. Cam finds her blood matches the blood found on the mummy. Bones says the killer might have used a narrow blunt edge instrument that went through her eye and into her brain. Daisy says the chest was pierced by the same instrument.

Bones and Booth meets with the exhibit administrator, Dr. Turnball. He says he was the one who mediated between the Jeffersonian and the Egyptian government, who owned the mummy. They ask him if Caswell reported that he found any object in Anoch's chest. He says no since it wasn't allowed. Turnbell informs them Dr. Wheaton, who studies Roman artifacts, was angry that Caswell got the exhibit funds instead of him.

Angela tells Cam she is afraid of mummy curses. Hodgins tells the team he found the urine of a red headed boy on the metal shavings of the instrument that killed Caswell. He explains that ancient cultures believed steel was produced by urinating on metal. Since Egypt didn't have red heads, the kid who urinated on the instrument was from Rome.
