A neighborhood holds a Luau themed block party to celebrate a gay couple's wedding. They notice fireworks explode in the firepit. They pull out the pig and see a remains of a man buried in the coals.

Booth brings his son Parker to work. Bones asks him if he wants to see a body that was barbecued. Booth tells Bones that Parker isn't allowed to go on cases until he gets older. Angela volunteers to watch Parker at the Institute.

At the neighborhood, James and Nate, the gay couple, inform Booth that Trey helped them with the barbecue. Cam and Booth examine the body and see a pair of glasses on the body. Other neighbors tell Booth that they discovered the body when they heard fireworks. Bones shows the neighbors the sunglasses and Trey recognizes them as being owned by Kurt, their neighbor. Booth and Bones look over at Kurt's house and see his wife close the blinds.

Sweets tells Kelly, Kurt's wife, that they positively identified her husband's body. She says that she didn't get along with the other neighbors because they put up a solar panel and a wind turbine. Kelly admits that Kurt gave the gay couple's dog a laxative after he peed on their windmill.

Hodgins determines that the fireworks were actually pebbles that exploded. The team figures that the pebbles were embedded in Kurt's body when he was dragged. Hodgins notices pebbles in Kurt's yard next to the windmill.

Back at the lab, Cam works with Arastoo Vaziri, the technician with a heavy accent. They figure that the killer tried to hide the remains along with the pig bones. Cam tries to apologize to Arastoo for having him work with pig bones, but he loses his accent and tells her to back off. He apologizes for his outburst just before he has to leave to pray to Allah.

Hodgins tells Cam that the pebbles at Kurt's house is covered with blood. Meanwhile, Angela paints Parker's face. He asks Angela if she has a boyfriend. Angela admits that she has been celibate for several months. Parker says that Booth needs a girlfriend and asks her if she wants to be her. Angela passes on the offer.

Cam informs Bones and Booth that Kurt was found with morning glory pollen which places his time of death in the morning. Cam tells them that Arastoo has been faking his accent.

Booth and Bones ask James and Nate if they wanted revenge for Kurt hurting their dog. They fight over how they didn't want to pay for a autopsy after their dog died.

Meanwhile back at the lab, Cam convinces Arastoo to use his normal speaking voice. He tells Cam that Kurt was wounded by something that is probably a saw and had a piercing wound in his shoulder. Hodgins walks in and tells them that he found a bullet in the pit. Arastoo, using an accent, says that it probably explains how Kurt died.

Booth gets upset that Parker and Angela talked about his sex life. Angela suggests that he talks to Parker honestly. Cam walks in and asks Booth to check out the bullet. Parker asks Cam if she has a boyfriend. Booth tells Parker that he has to take him back home.

Booth meets with a neighbor named Elliot who owns a handgun. He tells him that they found that he owns a gun. Booth learns that Elliot deposited $5,000 into Kurt's bank account. Elliot explains that Kurt bought the phone connections going into the neighborhood and charged him the money to put in a second phone line. Elliot says that Kurt spent the money to buy the windmill. Elliot says that he paid a farm to hunt with Bob, another neighbor, for the wild pig that was used in the luau.

Cam informs Sweets that Arastoo has been faking his Muslim accent.

Booth tells Bones about Elliot's hunt. Sweets suggests they analyze the neighborhood as if it was a single dysfunctional personality. He says that suburbanites will lie to outsiders and each other. Bones and Sweets argue whether or not anthropology or psychology is better suited to solve the case. Sweets explains that if they can identify how Kurt threatened the neighborhood as a whole, they can find their killer. Booth says that the analysis doesn't help them. Booth tells Booth that Parker has been asking all of the women to be his girlfriend. Sweets says that Parker is looking to him for his own gender identity. Sweets suggests that he should show him how to socialize with women.
