Mercy (NBC)

The emotional and often humorous NBC medical drama about a team of nurses lead by Veronica, an Iraq War veteran, as she struggles to choose between her cheating husband who loves, but doesn't quit get her and a doctor who followed her after they had a romantic relationship overseas.

The Vampire Diaries (CW)

CW's television version of the vampiric novels about Stefan, the eternal high schooler, who returns to his home town and becomes romantically involved with a girl named Elena who closely resembles his lost love. Stefan struggles to keep his true nature hidden while protecting the town from Damon, his sociopathic and murderous brother.

V (ABC)

ABC's reboot of the '80s alien invasion drama with big budget special effects. The Visitors arrive on Earth with promises of prosperity and peace, but a resistance group led by an FBI agent, a priest and an alien living among humans learn their true diabolical intentions.

Lie to Me (FOX)

Tim Roth leads the cast in Fox's drama about an organization that helps the government and private citizens with the service of discerning lies and the truth by analyzing human behavior.

NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS)

CBS's spin off featuring cases investigated by a team of high tech and crafty agents led by LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell.

The Good Wife (CBS)

After her husband is imprisoned because of a political sex scandal, Alicia Florrick played by Julianna Margulies rebuilds her life by returning to practicing law while caring for her teenage children.

HawthoRNe (TNT)

TNT's medical drama starring Jada Pinkett Smith as a tough nurse who puts her patient's health in front of the demands of the doctors and hospital administration.

Best New Television Series - Comedy

Community (NBC)

NBC's community college comedy about the antics of a diverse Spanish class study group featuring Joel McHale and Chevy Chase.

The Cleveland Show (FOX)

From creator Seth McFarlane, this Family Guy spin off brings Cleveland Brown back to his home town of Stoolbend, Virginia where he joins two families by marrying his recently divorced high school sweet heart.

Modern Family (ABC)

ABC's loose documentary style comedy about a family that includes a gay couple who adopted a Chinese baby, a older man/younger woman intercultural marriage and a some what normal household.

Parks and Recreation (NBC)

From the creators of The Office, this series shares the story of a small town's government with an ambitious yet ditzy administrator, played by Amy Poehler, clumsily navigates the system to build a new park.

Men of a Certain Age (TNT)

TNT's series about three friends as they struggle with the obstacles of aging. Starring Ray Romano, Andre Braugher and Scott Bakula.

Glee (FOX)

Fox's comedy-musical series about the relationships between the gleeks, cheerios, jocks of William McKinley High School and their parents and teachers.

Bored to Death (HBO)

After his girlfriend left him for drinking and smoking too much pot, a New York writer becomes an unlikely private detective in this HBO series starring Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis.

    This is amazing!! I knew "HawthoRNe" was a winner from Minute One of Episode One!! Congratulations, Jada and everybody connected with the show!! So much for stupid critics trying to tell us what to watch!!
    I think most of the criticism came about not because the SHOW was good or bad, but because some people are still prejudiced about Christina(Jada's character) being A)a woman, B)a BLACK woman, and C)a BLACK woman with strength...

    Only one gripe: Why is Michael Vartan's AWESOME acting never mentioned; also his commanding presence on camera??

    Janet I agree. The problem is as far as I can tell is the USA market is riddled with junk and so people can no longer discern what is good quality drama and what is not. If a show isn't razzle-dazzle, shot in an unartistic way and not commercial its not rated highly. For me I love seeing really good drama with an artistic edge. I normally watch European shows and never bother watching American shows for that reason. However, I think Michael Vartan is a wonderful actor with an edge over all others and especially those who do hollywood projects, he is natural so his characters are believable and he is much underrated. Actually in a way I am glad he sticks to indie projects. I would love to see him in more projects, and will see him in anything. He most certainly should be mentioned every which way the show can, his performances in Hawthorne were memorable, whereas I cannot remember others. I really enjoyed season 1 of Hawthorne, I think the stories got better as the show progressed an...
