Meanwhile, Rufus, another hunter, shoots at demons with his shotgun. He drags a boy to safetly and ties off his wound with his belt. He calls Bobby for help on his cellphone. He says that he is in a Colorado town infested with demons. The call ends as Rufus drives off two approaching demons with shotgun blasts.

Sam and Dean drive to the Colorado town and find the bridge leading to it destroyed. Sam checks his cell phone and sees that it has no signal. They hike into town and find that it looks like a warzone. They look around and find a puddle of blood. Ellen, another hunter, surprises them from behind. She douses Dean with holy water to make sure he is not a demon. They go into a building blocked off by a salt line and a demon warding symbol. Ellen gives them hug then slaps them for not keeping in touch. They go to the basement and find several other people holed up. Ellen says that Rufus called her and said that he was investigating omens happening in town. She says that she was hunting with Jo, but they got separated. Sam suggests that they arm and lead the survivors to safety. Dean and Sam start to head out to get more guns and salt. Dean tries to convince Sam to stay behind, but Sam insists that he goes along. Sam goes to the convenience store to get salt. Two demons enter the store and find Sam gathering supplies. He pulls out Ruby's knife and kills the two demons by stabbing them in the stomach and the neck. Sam looks at the knife and is tempted to drink the demon blood. Sam snaps out of it as Dean walks in the store.

Dean and Sam return to the basement and show the survivors how to use the weapons. A man tells Dean that he served in Fallujah. Sam tells Dean that he had to kill two teenagers that turned into demons. He says that he wishes he could save people like he used to. Ellen says that she wants to go out and find her daughter. Sam says that he wants to leave with Ellen, but Dean tries to stop him. Sam gets angry and tells Dean that he doesn't crave demon blood anymore.
